BOOK OF THE DAY:

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

“Touching and utterly real.” —  Publisher’s Weekly

Anybody who loves the YA genre has a soft spot in their heart for Rainbow Rowell. So, we will be extremely honest and dedicate this book to the little nerd inside us who loves to read or write fan fiction. Meet Cath and Wren: two sisters who are invigorated into the fandom that is the Simon Snow Series, a Harry Potter archetype, which functioned as a coping mechanism when their mother abandoned them. Now that the two girls are heading off to college, Wren, who now alienated from the fandom doesn’t know how to tell Cath that she does not want to be roommates. Now entering a new stage in her life, Cath can’t seem to let go of the fandom, she fears being alone at college, and she worries about leaving her beloved and fragile father alone.

We love Rowell’s refreshing and quirky approach to writing a story. It contains the right dose or nerdiness, romance and sweetness. Ultimately Cath will remind you about yourself in many ways. She keeps to herself and she’s frightened to put herself out there.
